Alappuzha
Veerasaiva Shakha Samaj with the support of Basava Samithi unveiled the statue of Basaveswara in Mazhukker village in Chengannur Taluk of Alappuzha district of Kerala State.
Prasanna Kumar of Basava Samiti said that a small garden is being built around the idol. After the work is complete, a bigger ceremony would be held to formally unveil the idol.
There are reportedly 10 lakh Basava followers in different districts of Kerala and about 5-6 Basava idols can be found in the state. Prasanna Kumar said there is a need to install more Basava idols in the State.
